What causes cellulite?

Cellulite is a unique skin condition characterized by dimpled, uneven skin texture. Cellulite affects primarily 90% of women worldwide. This is due to the rapid body changes that occur at puberty. When estrogen begins depositing more fat toward a curvier silhouette the collagen that restrains that fat gets frayed and the fat globules push through up to the skin surface causing cellulite. Cellulite can appear on the buttocks, thighs, arms, and ribcage:

  • Hormones: Hormonal changes, particularly in women, can play a significant role in the development of cellulite. Fluctuations in estrogen levels can impact circulation and the structure of connective tissues.
  • Genetics: Genetic factors can predispose individuals to cellulite. If your family members have cellulite, you may be more likely to develop it as well.
  • Lifestyle factors: Poor diet, sedentary habits, and smoking can contribute to the formation and exacerbation of cellulite.
  • Weight and age: Cellulite can become more noticeable with age and weight fluctuations as skin loses elasticity and fat accumulates.
  • Poor circulation: Impaired blood flow can lead to the accumulation of fat and the formation of cellulite.

Precision Aesthetics in New York: Our customized cellulite treatments

Dr. Zdinak introduced every single one of our cellulite busting therapies to the United States. Fortuitously bridging the gaps between Rio de Janeiro, Paris, and New York City during the genesis of non-invasive body treatments worldwide, she stands astride a mountain of diverse, discrete technologies that attack all of the causes of cellulite. All of our cellulite treatments are safe for every skin-tone. It is best to come for an initial cellulite consultation because there are many different forms of cellulite but, we have everything for everyone’s needs. Our treatments include:

  • EmTone: EmTone combines radiofrequency and targeted pressure energy to stimulate collagen production, improve skin elasticity, and reduce cellulite’s appearance. It is a non-invasive treatment that delivers impressive results.
  • Carboxytherapy: Carboxytherapy involves the use of carbon dioxide gas to increase blood circulation and collagen production in the skin. This treatment can significantly reduce cellulite and improve skin texture.
  • Exilis Ultra: The Exilis Ultra uses radiofrequency and ultrasound technology to tighten skin, reduce fat, and improve the overall texture of cellulite-affected areas. It is a versatile, non-surgical treatment with minimal downtime.
  • Thermage: Thermage NXT uses the most powerful (yet, pleasant) form of bipolar radiofrequency energy in the United States. The radiofrequency waves pass through the skin layer to impact deeply, right at the level of the damaged collagen and repairs it. Thermage impacts all three physiological causes of cellulite— fixes damaged collagen, shrinks size of fat cells, and smooths and tightens overlying skin.
Thermage is a one-time treatment, a favorite of our international clients.

“The way that I treat cellulite is more like a martial art. I love to strategize, to take it all in then, formulate a plan of attack. Cellulite is tough but, I am stubborn. Cellulite hurts women— we all just want the dimples to go away. You are in the right place if you are here with us.”

Cellulite treatments can provide long-lasting results, but maintenance sessions may be necessary to sustain the improvements. Adhering to a healthy lifestyle can also prolong the effectiveness of cellulite treatments.

The effectiveness of cellulite treatments can vary based on individual factors such as the severity of cellulite, skin type, and overall health. A personalized consultation with a qualified provider can help determine the most suitable treatment for your needs.

Most cellulite treatments are well-tolerated and involve minimal discomfort. Providers can offer options to ensure your comfort during the treatment process.

Results from cellulite treatments can vary, but many patients notice improvements within a few weeks to months after undergoing the recommended treatment sessions.

We will provide you with a complete history and physical exam to understand your past and present health history, surgical history, medications used and allergies to medications before we begin your treatments. All of our treatments are safe for all skin-tones. We ask that you refrain from taking any blood thinning medications like Advil, Aspirin, and stronger medications if your doctor says it is okay for you stop these medications. Our treatments do not cause harm to the body but some that use vibrations have a very small risk of bruising. Please arrive well hydrated to get the best results.

Yes. Our patients frequently schedule office visits to address several areas that they want to improve. Some have standing appointments booked for cellulite and one or two more procedures that address different aesthetic goals.

Maintaining the results of cellulite treatments involves following a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and staying hydrated. Cellulite is chronic in nature so maintenance procedures are recommended at least once a month or two after the initial series of treatments are completed [except for Thermage because it is a one-time procedure]. I often say, “as long as one has estrogen, the threat of cellulite looms.” But, this is nothing that we can’t handle. We are also working on a home-care product regimen to boost results further som stay tuned!
